Mary DeVore
Mary is the owner of Bishop Yoga and Massage Center. She is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and a Certified Massage Therapist.
Mary started practicing yoga as a child with her mother in the 1970's. This early base of awareness helped her in
her development as a practitioner, teacher, and therapist.
Mary strictly practices and teaches the Iyengar yoga method.
This is due to the focus on alignment, holding of the poses, and specific
work with injuries. Having studied the Iyengar method with Senior Iyengar teacher, Kofi Busia,
Mary also took her teachers training with him in Santa Cruz, CA.
Mary also studies with the Iyengar family and continues to study with Senior Iyengar teachers.
Mary was trained in various styles of massage but currently enjoys giving Deep Tissue/Orthopedic Structural massage,
Sports massage, and Swedish massage. Mary took most of her training from Twin Lakes College of the Healing Arts in Santa Cruz, CA,
and is certified as a Professional Massage Therapist and Natural Health Counselor through them.
In the past 15 years Mary has developed a private practice and has also spent many years teaching massage classes and workshops.
Teaching and practicing both yoga and massage has given Mary a very in depth understanding of how
to work with peoples' needs in a massage or yoga session. Each plays on the other for offering
insight and understanding. Mary uses a client-centered approach to tailor a private session or
class to meet the needs of the clients. For more info call Mary @ (760)920-3764.

Restrictions within these systems, whether caused by trauma, surgery, repetitive motion injuries, postural problems, etc. can create significant pain, restricted motion, decreased function, and/or depression and anxiety.
Furthermore, these restrictions do not show up on commonly performed radiological testing.
However, they can be released with the gentle prolonged pressure and stretching techniques of myofascial release.
Mike uses these techniques combined with individualized home exercise programs, self-treatment techniques, and education to address the specific physical therapy and wellness needs of each person.
